New name for Dual-Eligible Special Needs Plans
As of June 2026, the Washington Health Care Administration (HCA) shared that Dual-Eligible Special Needs Plans (DSNP) will now be referred to as Apple Health Medicare Connect plans in Washington State. As reported by the Washington HCA:
“There is a new name Dual-Eligible Special Needs Plans (D-SNP)! In Washington State, D-SNP is now known as Apple Health Medicare Connect. This name change better communicates that Apple Health Medicare Connect is only available to clients who are enrolled in both Apple Health (Medicaid) and Medicare coverage (referred to as dual-eligible).”
